Page 1 of 2 The following is an excerpt from the 2008 Paris Community Hospital/Family Medical Center Annual Report, Celebrating Local Healthcare: Our People and Services. “This is a formidable hospital. It has been our hospital, and it will always be our hospital. We’re privileged to live in a community where they [hospital employees] take personal care of, and a personal interest in, their patients,” according to Warren Sperry, who can specifically identify reasons that he is so positive about Paris Community Hospital/ Family Medical Center. As a patient Sperry has experienced PCH/FMC from different vantages. For example, when he had heart problems, his doctor promptly referred him to an excellent cardiologist. When he developed a shoulder problem, his physician correctly identified the injury as a rotator cuff and arranged an appointment for him to see a specialist at Carle Clinic within two days. Sperry says he would never have been able to get such a quick appointment on his own. He credits the excellent networking that PCH/FMC physicians have with area specialists, some of whom see patients here. Following shoulder surgery, Sperry had physical therapy at PCH/FMC. He describes his rehabilitation therapy as “wonderful,” indicating that his orthopaedic surgeon stated that Sperry was making “better and faster progress” than many others would have made and that he should definitely continue his rehab locally at PCH/FMC.
Also high on Sperry’s list of services at PCH/FMC is assistance with practicing preventive medicine. To illustrate, he says, “I have so much going on that I would never remember that it’s time for me to have my annual blood test. I was so pleased when I received a note that it was time for my tests again.” Sperry is particularly grateful for such follow-up. “They [staff] help to keep me healthy, and that’s absolutely essential. If somebody doesn’t remind me, I can’t get it done.” Sperry also identifies the Surgical Services Department as a strength, noting he has received much personal attention and excellent treatment. He added that his wife Jody has also received accurate diagnoses and treatment with her medical conditions. For Sperry, the praise extends beyond the clinical realm—even to the business department. He states that PCH/FMC billing, insurance, and accounting procedures are prompt, accurate, and easy to follow. The department is “extremely accommodating; if I have a question, it’s answered,” he explains. “The healing process goes much more smoothly because I have no mental stress over my bill.” Sperry is definitely a satisfied customer. |
