Term Definition
CancerA group of diseases in which cells are aggressive (grow and divide without respect to normal limits), invasive (invade and destroy adjacent tissues), and sometimes spread to other locations in the body. These three malignant properties of cancers differentiate them from benign tumors, which are self-limited in their growth and do not invade or spread.
 
CardiologyThe branch of medicine pertaining to the heart and the vascular system of the human body
 
Cardiolyte Stress TestTest used to determine whether exercise causes decreased blood flow to your heart muscle.
 
ChemotherapyTreatment of disease by chemicals that kill cells, specifically those of micro-organisms or cancer. In popular usage, it usually refers to antineoplastic drugs used to treat cancer or the combination of these drugs into a standardized treatment regimen.
In its non-oncological use, the term may also refer to antibiotics (antibacterial chemotherapy).
 
CholecystectomyThe surgical removal of the gallbladder. It is the most common method for treating symptomatic gallstones, although there are other reasons for having this surgery done.
 
CircumcisionThe removal of some or all of the foreskin (prepuce) from the penis.
 
ColonoscopyA visual examination of the large colon and the distal part of the small bowel with a CCD camera or a fiber optic camera on a flexible tube passed through the anus.
 
Computed TomographyCOMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY (6-slice CT) High tech procedure with a Emotion 6 slice CT Scanner. The Scanner combines the most advanced technology in electronics and computer science to produce an x-ray image of a thin cross sectional slice of the body, allowing radiologists and physicians to see inside the human body to more accurately diagnose a patient’s condition.
 
Cystic FibrosisAn inherited disease that causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive tract. It is the most common type of chronic lung disease in children and young adults, and may result in early death.
