PCH Volunteers Offering Additional Scholarships

PCH Volunteers Offering Additional Scholarships

The Paris Community Hospital Volunteers are offering additional scholarships to local students pursuing a healthcare career.

With the addition of two nursing scholarships this year, the Volunteers have $3,000 in scholarships available for the 2018-2019 school year. These scholarships include the following:

  • A one-year, $1,000 scholarship is available to any Edgar County high school graduating senior to further his or her education in the healthcare field.
  • A one-year $1,000 scholarship is available to any Horizon Health employee (Paris Community Hospital, Paris Clinic, Chrisman Clinic, Oakland Clinic, EZ Care, and Senior Care) to continue his or her education in healthcare. This may be awarded as two $500 scholarships or one $1,000 scholarship, depending on the applicant’s needs.
  • Two $500 nursing scholarships are available through the new Pat Spillman Memorial Scholarship. Eligible applicants include Edgar County high school graduating seniors and Horizon Health employees who plan to enter the nursing field. Pat was a longtime PCH Volunteer who passed away in 2017.

Applications are available at school guidance offices in Edgar County and the admissions desk at Paris Community Hospital. Applications also can be completed online.

Completed applications must be received by Monday, April 9. They should be submitted online, returned to the PCH admissions desk, or mailed to: PCH Volunteers, 721 E. Court Street, Paris, Ill., 61944.

Scholarship winners will be determined by a five-member scholarship committee. Winners will be announced at the PCH Volunteers’ May 14 meeting. The names of the scholarship winners will be engraved on a plaque that will be permanently displayed near the hospital gift shop.
