PCH/FMC Celebrates Nurse Practitioner Week

11/10/2017

During National Nurse Practitioner Week November 12-18, Paris Community Hospital/Family Medical Center recognizes the valuable service that its nurse practitioners (NPs) provide to the community as the profession celebrates more than 50 years.

NPs at PCH/FMC are certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. PCH/FMC has 11 NPs practicing at various locations:

NPs have graduate level, advanced education and clinical training beyond their registered nurse preparation. An NP practice offers a unique combination of nursing and healthcare service to patients. Focusing not only on diagnosing and managing acute and chronic illnesses, NPs integrate health promotion, disease prevention, counseling, and patient education to help patients understand their complete health picture.

The workforce of nurse practitioners is growing. According to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, there are approximately 234,000 NPs nationwide with 23,000 new NP students graduating each year.
